The one-arm dumbbell row has been a bodybuilding staple for many years for those that wish to develop a super-wide back with thick "lat" muscles. The Heavy Handle™ allows you to work those "lats" like never before by changing the angle of resistance while doing the rows and will help you develop the much sought after "V" look. In the first set of pictures, Ray has the weight on Shaft B (top shaft) and the weights are positioned forward. With one knee and hand positioned securely on the bench and the other leg on the floor (as shown), allow your arm to fully extend while holding the dumbbell. With a smooth, controlled motion, pull the dumbbell up until it touches the side of your chest. Do one set for your right-side, then alternate and do your left side.
Now, flip the handle around so the weight is facing behind
(as shown below) you and repeat the row as described above. You will feel
the change in resistance targetting a different area of your lat muscles. The exercise below will feel the same as a typical one arm
dumbell row. Place the weight on Shaft A and do the row the same as described
above.
The exercises below show the true versatility of the Heavy
Handle™. How many dumbbells can you hook up to a cable/pulley machine to do
one-arm lat rows? Hook a cable attachment to the 'eye' at the end of Shaft A and
while slightly bent over and arm extended straight out, slowly pull your elbow
back and up until your wrist is touching your side. Disclaimer: Before starting this or any other exercise program click here. |
